Fourth
Medium Consulting launches blog to advance SDLC 3.0 and
the evolution of the Agile movement
For
immediate release:
Ottawa,
Canada; Los Angeles California;
Fourth Medium
Consulting today announces the launch of a blog for
advancing the next generation of modern software
engineering. Topics include Lean IT Engineering,
Lean ITIL, Lean CMMI, Lean TOGAF, Lean-Agile-Unified
Process Integration and Lean Process Enactment/ALM.
According to Mark Kennaley, President and Principal
Consultant at Fourth Medium, "the time has come to
accelerate the advancement of the application of proven
patterns of work to enhance delivery results. The
benefits of the Agile counter-culture are in need of
re-invigoration through solid engineering-based
introspection. The movement beyond a tacit
understanding of what makes Agile work is required to
scale the benefits of agility to
enterprise-scale." According to Kennaley,
"SDLC 3.0 represents a value-stream focused effort
to integrate all prior experience in practices that
yield results, especially those surrounding Lean
Thinking. Rather than simply attribute Lean to
manufacturing, something that is inherently in conflict
with the nature of software engineering, focus must
surround topics such as Real Options, Concurrent
Set-based Engineering, Product-line Practices and
Acquisition-orientation. This should be in concert
with the fundamental Lean pillars of JIT, Jidoka and the
formation of a Kaizen culture."

and practices to IT organizational transformation.
Our primary
focus is the application of Lean IT Engineering to
enable delivery of more value for less, and to address
known problems of scalability with older Agile

innovations in collaborative software engineering
infrastructure termed Application Lifecycle Management,
with examples being technologies like IBM Rational Team
Concert and the Jazz Platform.
